curious.....cheerful......
My Tagline:

Acupuncture education/license level:
1st Year, I'm a fellow traveler.
My acupuncture story:
Once upon a time there were no healers...there were no healers because there was no word for sickness...beings rose with the sun, worked when strong, danced when merry, spoke when words came, rested when the moon rose...and when there was pain sensation, fevers, and sweat...without judgement they allowed themselves to be loved...there were no 'healers' because every one knew the arts of harmonising others...no one denied their innate abilties to bring about harmony and so all participated in the healing process....each in thier own way....with words & thoughts, with song & smile, with herbs & food & libations, with dreams and dance, with movement & touch....slowly, though there are many tales, no one remembers why, people began to forget....their healing arts began to slip away as they concerned themselves with other tasks, healing skills were kept by few who took on more and more knowledge as others let theirs fall into deepest slumber within their souls...as guardians of sacred treasure their descendents bore the knowledge with them through the journey of time...sometimes sought after, sometimes persecuted, always watchful, always serving all, bowing to none...now, a little more with every sunrise, the people are begining to remember, to awaken to the hidden power within them, letting it uncoil and rise again.....

pulse

in the pulse what are we really feeling? at whatever level; whether choppy, tight, slow..before it is all those things...it is something else....the movement, the rhythm is......captivating, sensual, mesmerizing.....as though some primordial and celestial force reaches out to us from beyond the beyond....that the blood moves through the vessels, not the blood itself....that the heart thrusts, pumps the blood from its chambers, not the heart itself....it is the movement - that which courses the movement and thus is born through otherwise lifeless matter - it mates.... the dynamic interplay of the blood parts and tissues means that the pulse is a portal - that when we feel it, feel the blood under our listening fingers, we are making contact with every square inch of the body before us......rest a while and close your eyes.......feel your heart beating.....feel the blood coursing into the aorta and through the large vessels of your thighs, legs, feet......follow the path of blood though the vessels of your arms, hands, neck, face......maybe you feel pulsations in your fingers...belly....let your awareness of the blood relax and be opened into the capillaries....feel the warmth, the aliveness in your flesh....fat, muscles, skin....qi blood, shen travel in all these areas, nourishing, receiving, returning......once we become viscerally aware of this dispersal of qi, blood, shen, we can begin to more fully understand the vastness of the pulse beneath our fingers..............when i place my fingers on the wrist of the one before me.....when the lovely rhythmic wave of their blood spreads over my fingers....they enter me....and i them....or maybe we meet somewhere outside ourselves.... the blood wave spreads over my face and into my heart and i am pulled in....embraced by spirit...when we feel the pulse we feel the blood, yes, and the vitality and strength of the organs and body qi.....but also.....if we soften and listen.....we may perceive a glimpse of the forces that brought life into this being.....their ancestors....the energies/spirits that surround them...their relationship with world.......woven into our studies of wiry, slippery, choppy we can feel the pulse of a being, now and then, and allow ourselves to become lost in the universe of their aliveness.....

Touching to be Touched

We treat others because to touch is to be touched……………..

We touch because every Body holds the story of its life…
Pains, betrayals, joys and triumphs,
All are held in the supple treasure chests of our bodies.
And to touch these stories, is to hear them.
And when our stories are heard, we heal.

We participate in the healing stories of others, because we are truly one being.
From out of the void a Sound came; the vibration of it caused the sound to separate into two.
We are the children of that… Continue

Treating the Whole of the Living Earth

The neophyte practitioner treats the disease.
The advanced practitioner treats the person.
The master treats the whole of the Living Earth
.

We can spend a lifetime treating disease only; dancing around with disharmonies. And we may relieve a person’s suffering and this is good. But, the disharmony of a person's pain expresses the mythology of their lifetime; stories of betrayals and wounds, of desires constantly unfulfilled. These stories become a heavy cloak we wear over our true body o… Continue
